The Communications Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency has honoured Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Augustus Nana Kwasi Andrews, with a Citation of Honour in recognition of what it described as his exemplary leadership, strategic vision and contribution to the party’s electoral fortunes.
The citation, presented to Mr Andrews, commended his dedication, resilience and leadership as Ashanti Regional Chairman, particularly his role in mobilising the party at the grassroots ahead of the 2024 General Election.
According to the citation, Mr Andrews’ leadership culminated in what the bureau described as a historic electoral performance for the NDC in the Ashanti Region, with the party securing more than 30 per cent of the total votes cast in the region.
Commendation for grassroots mobilisation
The Afigya Kwabre South Communications Bureau said Mr Andrews demonstrated strong commitment to grassroots mobilisation and employed strategic approaches that helped galvanise party supporters across the region.
It said his ability to work with regional executives, parliamentary candidates, constituency executives, grassroots organisers and party supporters contributed significantly to the party’s performance during the 2024 election.
The citation praised him for what it described as his “unwavering commitment, tireless grassroots mobilisation and tactical foresight”, saying these qualities helped the party challenge long-standing political patterns in the Ashanti Region.
Leadership and unity
The bureau also highlighted Mr Andrews’ ability to unite various sections of the party, describing his leadership as one that brought together executives, candidates, grassroots supporters and party faithful across the constituencies.
It said his leadership was characterised by courage, perseverance and loyalty to the party, adding that he consistently led from the front in the party’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the region.
The citation further stated that his contribution had left an “indelible footprint” in the history of the NDC in the Ashanti Region.
Recognition of service
Presenting the citation, the Communications Bureau of the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency said the honour was intended to formally recognise Mr Andrews’ contribution to the party and celebrate his service as Regional Chairman.
The bureau said the recognition was not only a tribute to his past service but also an acknowledgement of the importance of effective leadership, strategic planning and grassroots engagement in building a strong political organisation.
The citation concluded by expressing appreciation for Mr Andrews’ “immense contribution and visionary guidance”, while honouring him for the role he played in advancing the interests of the NDC in the Ashanti Region.
The presentation underscores the continued recognition within sections of the NDC of the leadership and organisational efforts that contributed to the party’s performance in the 2024 General Election.
