President Akufo Addo has alleged that the Previous Mahama administration had only one Ashanti serving in a position of authority.But in his administration,there are several Ashantis serving as Ministers,Deputy Ministers and Ceo’s of state-owned enterprises.
He made this statement when he met Otumfuo and the Asanteman council yesterday at the Manhyia Palace.
At the time the good people of the Ashanti region expected him to showcase his achievements, the President chose to dabble in his usual ethnocentric and divisive effusions that has been the trademark of his political life.
Below is the list of Ashantis who served in various positions under President Mahama.
1.Dr.Kwaku Agyemang Mensah-Minister of Health from Donkoto in the Atwima Mponua Constituency.
2.Hon.Ken Adjei-Dep.Defense Minister from Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency.
3.Hon.Barbara Serwaa Asamoah-Dep.Minister Lands and Natural resources from offinso south constituency.
4.Hon.Samuel Yaw Adusei-Dep.Minister works and housing from Ejuratia in the kwabre east constituency.
5.Hon.Kwame Awuah Darko-CEO,TOR and BOST from Juaben in the Juaben constituency.
6.Mr.Samuel Afari Dartey-CEO,Forestry Commission from Jamasi in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency.
7.Hon.Alex Mould,CEO,GNPC,from Ejuratia in the kwabre east constituency.
8.Mr. Charles Asare,CEO,Ghana Airports Comapany Limited.
9.Hon.Johny Osei Kofi-Dep.Chief of Staff
So clearly,what President Akufo Addo said before the Manhyia Palace was not factual.
What Asanteman expect from President Akufo Addo at this point in time is a proper account of his stewardship and not divisiveness and ethnocentrism.
