Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk Nuhu, an illustrious son of Bimbilla in the Nanumba North Municipality, has in partnership with the Municipal Education Directorate sponsored a common mock examination for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates across the municipality.
This according to him is a way to improve upon the standards of education in the Nanumba North Municipality where he hails from.
The mock exams questions which constituted past BECE questions was administered to all forty-nine (49) Junior High Schools in the Nanumba North Municipality. About 2,075 candidates have registered to write this year’s BECE in the Bimbilla municipality.
According to Alhaji Zaruk, the mock exam was of WAEC standard and is aimed at helping the candidates prepare adequately for the impending BECE.
“This will better manage their anxiety. By writing the mock, they practice what is to be written in the main exams. The teachers will know where candidates are lagging behind as they mark mock exams and will explain those areas more to candidates before WAEC exams,” Alhaji Zaruk told the press.
He added that with this mock exam, students are able to evaluate themselves and know which areas to concentrate in their private studies.
Alhaji Zaruk visited the following schools during the monitoring; Taali JHS, Dakpam JHS, Chamba JHS A, Chamba JHS B, Chamba girls JHS, Holly spirit JHS in Chamba, Gungupa JHS, Bakpaba JHS, Lanja JHS, Bincharatanga JHS, Nakpa JHS, E. P JHS Bimbilla, Central JHS Bimbilla, Our Lady JHS, Bimbilla, Presby JHS Bimbilla, Bimbilla JHS and more.
Addressing the candidates during the monitoring, Alhaji Zaruk encouraged them to take the exam seriously. He advised them against exam malpractice and wish them well in their impending final exam (BECE).
Staff, candidates and students were very grateful and promised to give better grades this year because this was the first time a common mock exam of WAEC standard is organized across the municipality.

In Ghana, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a basic requirement for entry into the Senior High Schools (SHS) each year.
This is where the strengths and weaknesses of students are determined in academia, in order to ensure appropriate selection of schools and courses of study in the Senior High School through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
This year’s BECE, will be held from Monday 17th October to Friday the 21st of October 2022 for year three (3) JHS candidates across Ghana.
