As the rainy season commences, the Ashanti Region is taking proactive steps to prevent and mitigate the disruptions caused by flooding.
Today, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, welcomed the Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Gilbert Kenneth Adjei, to discuss critical interventions aimed at enhancing drainage systems and protecting lives and property.
The meeting between the two ministers focused on ongoing and upcoming desilting exercises, a crucial step in preventing flooding.
Desilting exercises involve the removal of silt and debris from drainage systems, ensuring that water can flow freely and reducing the risk of flooding. By prioritizing these exercises, the Ashanti Region is taking a proactive approach to mitigating the effects of flooding.
In addition to desilting exercises, the ministers discussed other critical interventions aimed at enhancing drainage systems. These interventions are designed to protect lives and property during the rainy season, ensuring that the region is better equipped to handle the challenges posed by flooding.
The Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Gilbert Kenneth Adjei, pledged his support for the AshantiFest Region-wide Cleanup Exercise. This initiative aims to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, and the minister’s participation on September 12th will serve as a testament to his commitment to this cause. By working together, the Ashanti Region is building a safer, cleaner, and more resilient community.
The proactive measures being taken by the Ashanti Region are a shining example of effective governance and community leadership. By prioritizing the needs of its citizens and taking steps to mitigate the effects of flooding, the region is demonstrating its commitment to creating a better future for all.
