Authorities of Kwadaso Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, headed by Mr. Richmond Agyenim Boateng(MCE) is much worried about the Assembly’s inability to have it own landfill site.
The situation according to the MCE is thwarting the Assembly’s aim of making the municipality one of the neatest municipalities in Ghana.
According to him, the Assembly has partnered with ‘Vemark’, a sanitation company to clear waste from the municipality but the problem he noted was where all the waste cleared from the municipality would be buried.
He told Ayisah Foster, Managing editor of thebroadcasteronline yesterday in an exclusive interview that, one of the Assembly’s major challenge was where to dump waste after clearing waste from the streets of Kwadaso and other towns it serves.
He revealed that all waste collected from his municipality is sent to the Oti Landfill Site, the only landfill site that servers close to seven MMAs in the Ashanti Region.
He hinted that the assembly has acquired two heavy trucks for waste collection but dumping site has been the problem since they were carved out of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
He then used the platform to formally appeal to the general public who have land available to serve as a landfill site to contact the Assembly for immediate negotiations.
