Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, has taken proactive measures to ensure the region’s preparedness for any potential fire emergencies. On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Amoakohene has directed a comprehensive review of the state of fire hydrants across the region.

The initial findings of this review have been described as “wild” by the minister, highlighting the urgent need for corrective action. A significant concern is the obstruction of fire hydrants by structures, buildings, or other impediments. In response, Dr. Amoakohene has issued a public notice, warning individuals and entities responsible for these obstructions to remove them immediately.

The minister’s warning is clear: “The team will be moving in soon, and enforcement will be swift.” This stern warning underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety and preventing potential fire disasters.

Dr. Amoakohene also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the officers of the Fire Service Department for their dedication to completing the review. Their efforts are crucial in identifying and addressing the region’s fire safety vulnerabilities.

The Ashanti Regional Minister’s proactive approach to fire safety is commendable, particularly given the region’s rapid growth and urbanization. By prioritizing fire safety, Dr. Amoakohene is helping to safeguard the lives and properties of the region’s residents.

As the region moves forward with the review and enforcement process, it is essential for residents and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the authorities. By working together, the Ashanti Region can mitigate the risk of fire emergencies and create a safer, more resilient community for all .
