The Ashanti Regional Forestry Division has targeted planting about 2.5 seedlings on this year’s Green Ghana Day with the Nationwide targeting 10,000,000.
Mr Clement Amo Omari, the Regional Manager at a press briefing at the Regional Office towards the Green Ghana yesterday, explained that, in the last three years since the beginning of the programme by the government through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Ashanti region planted about 14, 000.00.
According to him, the only challenges the forestry always encounter is the Operation of illegal miners Chainsaw operators in the forests and bushfires defeats the efforts of greening the country.
He urged all stakeholders to get involve in protecting the forest reserves and our environment for the sake of future generations.
He also advise teachers get the students involve in the planting of trees to enable them understand the essence of tree planting.
Mr Omari pleaded with every stakeholders and individuals to also get involve in the exercise, says you can choose to plant a tree to beautify your environment or at your backyard as contributing to mitigate deaf forestation or degraded environment.
