The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has expressed deep concern over the state of the abandoned Nyinahini Sports Complex, describing it as a facility with immense potential left to rot and abandoned mid-construction.

Dr. Amoakohene made this statement during an inspection of the complex, accompanied by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, and officials from the National Sports Authority.

The Minister emphasized that it is unacceptable for such a significant investment aimed at developing talent and promoting sports in the region to be allowed to waste away. He called for collective efforts to revive and complete the complex, stressing that the youth and the region deserve better.

The inspection revealed that the complex has been abandoned mid-construction, with significant investment wasted. Dr. Amoakohene highlighted the need for urgent action to restore the facility and unlock its potential for sports development in the region.

The Minister and his team are determined to ensure that the complex is revived and completed. They plan to work closely with the Ministry, the National Sports Authority, and relevant stakeholders to push for its rehabilitation. Additionally, they intend to engage the corporate community and local actors to support government efforts in restoring the facility.

“Our youth deserve better. Ashanti deserves better,” Dr. Amoakohene said, emphasizing the need for collective action to revive the complex. He stressed that the region’s youth should have access to world-class sports facilities to develop their talents and contribute to the region’s growth.

The Ministry and relevant stakeholders are expected to work together to develop a plan for the revival of the Nyinahini Sports Complex. The project is expected to have a positive impact on sports development in the region, providing opportunities for young athletes to develop their talents and compete at the highest level.

The abandoned Nyinahini Sports Complex is a significant loss for the region, but with collective efforts, it can be revived and become a hub for sports development. The Ashanti Regional Minister’s call to action is a step in the right direction, and it is expected that the Ministry and relevant stakeholders will work together to restore the facility and unlock its potential.
