The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, on Monday, August 4, 2025, visited various project sites in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.
These visits included a meeting with the staff of the District Assembly and Kunsuhene, Nana Dr. Agyeman Badu Duah I.
The Regional Minister’s engagement was aimed at discussing infrastructure and development initiatives, assessing progress, addressing challenges of ongoing projects, and ensuring the effective implementation of projects intended to improve the district’s economy and the living conditions of its people.
Dr. Amoakohene met with Kunsuhene to discuss ongoing development projects at Kunsu, such as the construction of the Police Headquarters and the District Hospital (Agenda 111), which was initiated by the previous government. The minister toured the construction sites of the Mankranso Community Park, the Agenda 111 District Hospital, and a 6-unit classroom block at Oyinanufo. At the Agenda 111 site, the lead contractor, Nickseth Construction Company Ltd, disclosed that the project is 73.4% complete.
The Regional Minister highlighted the government’s developmental agenda through the various allocations of the District Assemblies Common Fund, focusing on transforming the socio-economic status of every district. “President Mahama is not against mining but rather against irresponsible mining. It is prohibited to mine in our forest reserves, watersides, and in the heart of communities,” he stated. He added that President John Dramani Mahama will, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, launch Cooperative Mining at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, which will pave the way for responsible mining and the reclamation of mined lands.
In an interview with the media, Dr. Frank Amoakohene charged the media to report the exact state of the project as inherited by the NDC government so that, after its completion, the necessary appreciation will be shared equally. He emphasized the need for the completion of the project and assured that he would brief the Health Minister on the project’s current status for the necessary processes and actions to be taken.
The District Chief Executive of the Ahafo Ano South West , Hon Abubakar Sedik, said he will continue to liaise with the Regional Minister to ensure the completion of the Agenda 111 District Hospital to augment the existing facilities in the district.
