Nana Osei Appiah Kubi,Asokore Akyempem hene in the Sekyere East district of the Ashanti region has called on appropriate authorities to make Effiduase and Asokore communities joint capital of Sekyere East District.
According to him,since Effiduase was made the capital of Sekyere East District , Asokore has been neglected when fetching development to the district capital.
Briefing the media last Tuesday,Nana Osei Appiah Kubi maintained that Effiduase and Asokore are two separate communities but does everything together but can’t understand why every developmental projects are been sent to Effiduase leaving Asokore community unattended to.
He said,they marry together, school together ,trade together because they serve as one community but still Asokore doesn’t benefit from the Assembly.
Recounting on how Effiduase was made the district capital after it was been curved out of the Mampong municipality ,he said,when Mampong municipality was serving as the municipal capital of Sekyere Kumawu, Effiduase and Asokore,he reavealed that the then chief of Asokore made Effiduase to be made the district capital.
According to him, Sekyere Kumawu was supposed to be the district capital of Sekyere East when it was curved out of Mampong municipality but the then chief of Asokore thought that from Asokore to Kumawu was far from the two towns so he suggested Effiduase be made the district capital serving Effiduase, Asokore and Sekyere Kumawu.
He revealed that, Effiduase was made the district capital and later Sekyere Kumawu district had it own district capital that’s Kumawu.
Nana Osei Appiah Kubi is now campaigning for Asokore to be made joint district capital of Sekyere East district for development and progress.
