Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly has eulogised officials of World Vision Ghana for their 23 years of quality and impressive implementation of their programme in the area.
Though the Atebubu area programme was officially closed down on Monday, 14th August 2023, the
MCE Hon Edward Owusu has announced that he wished the World Vision Ghana remained in the Municipality to continue with their life-touching interventions.
“We would have loved that World Vision Ghana remain in the Municipality to continue with the good work they started 23 years ago.
World Vision Ghana has done what we wanted and we would appreciate it if same is done by other organisations for this Municipality”.
Before World Vision entered Atebubu-Amantin Municipality 23 years ago, families in the area faced challenges such as guinea worm and Buruli ulcer infestation due to inadequate access to clean, safe drinking water.
These water-borne illnesses affected the area’s economy, health and productivity but also prevented hundreds of children from attending school.
The goverment official however indicated in an interview granted on the sidelines of a pomp durbar held to mark the official closure of the Atebubu area programme that “previously there were guinea worm and buruli ulcer infestations in the Municipality but with the presence of World Vision Ghana it has become a thing of the past”.
He admited that the organisation has done much for his jurisdiction in areas such as Education, Health, Sanitation, advocacy, human empowerment, child protection, etc.
Hon Edward Owusu mentioned that through the World Vision Ghana programme, over 3000 children have benefitted from its sponsorship programme.
The MCE also underlined that World Vision Ghana has constructed and furnished 10 school blocks, rehabilitated 8 classroom blocks and teachers’ quarters, provided financial support to 1,980 brilliant but needy students among others.
“We pray that as they close the programme, they will come again with a different package so that people within the Municipality will benefit a lot”, he said in his address at the durbar.
He pledged to take good care of all the facilities that have been handed over to the assembly for the sustainance and continuity of the programme.
