The Atwima Mponua District Assembly has commissioned a newly completed Kindergarten (KG) block at Bayerebon No. 3 as part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a conducive learning environment for children in the district.
The facility, constructed with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is expected to provide pupils at the early childhood level with a safe and appropriate environment to begin their formal education.
The commissioning of the project forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to improving basic educational infrastructure across communities in the Atwima Mponua District.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, said the completion of the facility represented another important investment in the future of children in the community.
He noted that early childhood education remained a critical component of the educational system because it provided the foundation upon which children built their academic and social development.
According to him, providing children with suitable learning spaces from the beginning of their educational journey was essential to improving their interest in school and supporting effective teaching and learning.
He said the Assembly was committed to ensuring that communities across the district benefited from development projects, particularly in the area of education.
The DCE explained that the new KG block would not only address the infrastructural needs of the school but also contribute to creating a more comfortable and conducive atmosphere for both teachers and pupils.
He expressed satisfaction with the completion and delivery of the project to the people of Bayerebon No. 3, stressing that the facility should be properly maintained to ensure that it served the community for many years.
He therefore appealed to the school authorities, teachers, parents and residents of Bayerebon No. 3 to take ownership of the facility and protect it from misuse and premature deterioration.
He said the responsibility of maintaining public infrastructure should not rest solely with the government or the Assembly, adding that communities had an important role to play in protecting projects provided for their benefit.
The DCE further reiterated the Assembly’s determination to continue investing in educational infrastructure as part of measures to improve access to quality basic education in the district.
He said the Assembly would continue to identify infrastructural challenges confronting schools and work towards addressing them within available resources.
The commissioning of the Bayerebon No. 3 KG block is expected to complement existing educational facilities in the community and provide young learners with an improved setting for their early years of education.
The project also highlights the role of the District Assemblies Common Fund in supporting development projects at the local level, particularly in areas such as education and community infrastructure.
Early childhood education is widely regarded as a critical stage in a child’s development, as it helps to develop foundational skills, social interaction, communication and attitudes towards learning.
For the people of Bayerebon No. 3, the completion of the new KG block represents an addition to the community’s educational infrastructure and a facility intended to support the next generation.
