Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana had held a press conference aimed at enforcing laws in Bawku.

As a civil organization, ensuring peace over the Bawku Cheiftancy issues is their priority.

Bawku has been the center of chaos mainly because of disagreement between the kusaasi and Mamprusi of who takes the throne .

In 1958, the High court had declared the Kusaasi’s as the legitimate rulers of the Bawku throne with Bawku Nana Azugliba Azoka II as Chief.

In 2003, the Mamprusi’s were asked not to appear before the court as the case has been settled.

Certain individuals who have decided not to adhere to the courts rulings started the Massacre and has led to the death of about 60 people.

Mr Azubila Emmanuel Salam, the Executive Director for the association had made it known to the media that, individuals involved in the disturbances should be labeled as criminals.
And punished accordingly.

The group had appealed to the IGP, George Akuffo Dampare to make security machineries ready to punish those found culpable by enforcing the ruling of the High court.

The group further beseeched the Vice President, Bawumia to consider the situation and to declare his stance on the issue as he is a brother.

They want peace and hence says, the government should walk the talk and end the Bawku Civil Unrest.
