The Zug-Raan Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, the Overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area, has extended heartfelt congratulations to President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the Chiefs and People of the Kusaug Traditional Area, following his victory in the December 7, 2024 General Elections.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Overlord of Kusaug, David Adoliba, the Zug-Raan noted that Mahama’s overwhelming endorsement by the people of Ghana is a clear reflection of his leadership qualities and the positive impact of his previous term as President.

“Your massive endorsement by Ghanaians to take over the reins of government of our beloved country once again is a testament to your sterling qualities and good work during your previous tenure as President of this country.”, the statement said.

The Chiefs and People of Kusaug, he said, are particularly optimistic about the future with Mahama’s re-election, given the peace enjoyed in the region during his previous leadership. However, he acknowledged that peace has been disrupted in recent years due to ongoing conflicts that have led to the loss of lives.

The Zug-Raan expressed confidence that Mahama’s return to office would restore peace to Kusaug and reaffirmed their support for his leadership.

“Congratulations once again, and may the Almighty God grant you the strength and wisdom to successfully carry out your mandate,” the message concluded.

The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, officially declared the results on December 9, 2024, confirming John Dramani Mahama as the winner with 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total vote. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia followed in second place with 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61% of the votes cast.
