Bogoso:13 member management committee on planting for food and jobs gets office

In line with government’s flagship programmes such as Planting for Food and Jobs and Planting for Export and Rural Development, the Department of Agriculture in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly in the Western Region has inaugurated an office for a 13-member Management Committee of the District Center of Agriculture Commerce and Technology (DCACT).

The brief ceremony which was held at the Municipal Chief Executive’s (MCE) Conference room saw lots of dignitaries from various departments of the assembly as well as the traditional authorities.

In an inaugural speech, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Prestea Huni-Valley Assembly, Hon. Mozart Kwaku Owuh said, the Committee has the onus to ensure that, the DCACT will be able to identify and develop at least two (2) major cash crops, food crops as well as livestock into exportable products.
The MCE also stated that the establishment of the DCACT office will attract investment in Agro Processing at the Municipal level in order to add value to Agriculture produce for domestic and industrial purposes as a result of implementing and sustaining government agriculture initiatives in the Municipality.

Speaking to the management Committee members at the Ceremony, he stressed that, the formation of the DCACT office will help to create and maintain electronic data base of farmers and their farm size which will also help to establish at least one (1) major Agriculture processing factory in the Municipality.

The Chairperson for the ceremony, who doubles as the Chief of Bogoso Kokoase Divisional Area, Nana Kwasi Sompreh ll also urged the DCACT Committee members to work hard for the betterment of the Assembly.
He, thanked the Committee members for their support and also entreated them to put up their best for DCACT programme to become successful.
