BOSTenergies has donated GH₵1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) to support the treatment of Ghanaians suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, reaffirming the company’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the country.
The donation, presented by the Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Afetsi Awoonor, is expected to assist patients who require expensive specialised medical care but are unable to afford the cost of treatment.
Presenting the cheque, Mr. Awoonor described the contribution as “an investment in lives, families and the future of our nation,” stressing that access to quality healthcare should not be determined by one’s financial circumstances.
He noted that the company believes every Ghanaian deserves the opportunity to receive life-saving medical treatment and called on Corporate Ghana to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund in its quest to ensure that no patient is denied healthcare because of financial hardship.
According to him, the country’s private sector has a critical role to play in complementing government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the wellbeing of citizens.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Trust Fund, the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, expressed profound appreciation to BOSTenergies for the generous donation, describing it as a timely intervention that would directly impact the lives of many vulnerable patients.
She explained that every contribution made to the Trust Fund translates into renewed hope for patients waiting to undergo costly medical procedures such as chemotherapy, dialysis, heart surgery, brain surgery and other critical interventions.
“Every cedi donated represents hope for patients and families who have exhausted every option in search of treatment. This generous support from BOSTenergies will help us save more lives and restore hope to many Ghanaians battling life-threatening conditions,” she stated.
Mrs. Darko-Opoku emphasised that the Ghana Medical Trust Fund remains committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent citizens from accessing specialised healthcare services.
She appealed to more corporate organisations, philanthropic institutions and individuals to emulate the example set by BOSTenergies by supporting the Trust Fund to expand its reach and provide assistance to more patients across the country.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund was established to mobilise resources to assist patients requiring specialised medical treatment, particularly those affected by chronic illnesses whose families struggle to meet the high cost of healthcare.
The GH₵1 million donation by BOSTenergies is expected to significantly strengthen the Fund’s capacity to finance critical medical interventions and improve health outcomes for beneficiaries.
