Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi,Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC has engaged the youth in Konongo, the Capital of Asante Akim Central constituency in the Ashanti Region on the need to vote for the NDC in election 2024.

Touring the Asante Akim Central Constituency today, the affable political Messiah in a stop over at Konongo main trotro station where about 80% of the youth were gathered to pay attention to the NDC chairman,Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi indicated ,the NDC 2024 Presidential Candidate, John Mahama is pledging to put an end to taxes on betting and gaming wins introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Encountering with young people, Chairman Nana Kwasi reasoned that betting offered the Ghanaian youth a way out in affording their upkeep during the difficult economic times the country was enduring.

“Boys are hustling and there are no jobs so they do little betting for some beans (food). You see so I understand. It’s a matter that concerns the youth very much so we have already said when we come into office, we will abolish the betting tax,” Nana Kwasi stressed.

He conceded that although conditionalities in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal had necessitated the measure, the government had to find other ways of raising revenue.

“We know this government and IMF have signed an agreement that is why they introduced the betting tax but we have to find alternative revenue to pluck the hole that the betting tax will cost,” the NDC leader said.

He stated that in the absence of the 24-hour, the government ought to permit young people to generate little income for themselves.

He noted that when the 24-hour is implemented young people would be so engaged and comfortable with work that they might not be versed in the activity as is the case presently.
