Prolonged use of mosquito coils can expose you to health risks and make you feel under the weather.

Various studies have made it clear by stating that, there is growing concern about the use of mosquito coils. The smokes emitted by these coils have perilous effects and can really cause more harm than good.

A researcher by the name Dr. Sundeep Salvias, the director of Chest Research Foundation revealed that burning one coil in a closed room is equivalent to smoking roughly 100 cigarettes at once.

This suggests how dangerous they are when used more often. They expose you to lung infections and cancers.

“Burning one mosquito coil in a closed room amounts to smoking roughly 100 cigarettes,” opines Dr Salvias.

Ajay Taneja of the chemistry department at Agra-based B.R. Ambedkar University further shed light on the risks that come with coils. The researcher noted that they release dangerous metals that have adverse impact on someone’s health.

“Smoke comes out of both mosquito coils as well as cigarettes when burnt. But the smokes are very complex – contains more than 4,000 chemicals.

We have analysed only metals in them and their impact. We concluded that, on a long term, if there is continuous use of such materials it is going to have some effects on health,” reveals Taneja

In summary, mosquito coils can make fall victim to lung infections like coughing nonstop, bronchitis, and lung cancer.
