As part of activities commemorating his 60th birthday, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah, has extended a hand of generosity to vulnerable children through a donation to the Village of Hope orphanage.
The gesture, which underscores his longstanding commitment to social welfare and community development, saw the presentation of essential items to support the upkeep and well-being of the children at the facility. The items, which included food supplies, toiletries, and other necessities, are expected to significantly ease the operational burden of the orphanage.
The donation was made on his behalf by the Legal Adviser to the President, Hon. Marrieta Brew Appiah-Opong, who led a delegation of government officials and party executives to the orphanage. She was joined by the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, the Regional Organiser, Mike Derry, as well as other dignitaries and friends of the celebrant.
Also present at the ceremony was the Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Francis Xavier Sosu, whose presence added a deeply personal dimension to the occasion. Hon. Sosu, who spent part of his childhood at the Village of Hope, actively assisted in the presentation, reflecting a touching full-circle moment that resonated strongly with both the children and staff of the institution.
In remarks delivered on behalf of Hon. Debrah, Madam Brew Appiah-Opong emphasised that the donation was not merely symbolic, but a heartfelt expression of gratitude and compassion. She noted that the Chief of Staff remains deeply committed to supporting vulnerable groups across the country, particularly children who require care, protection, and opportunities to thrive.
She further encouraged individuals, corporate bodies, and institutions to emulate such acts of kindness, stressing that collective efforts are essential in improving the lives of disadvantaged members of society.
Receiving the items, management of the Village of Hope expressed profound appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They noted that such interventions play a critical role in sustaining the facility and ensuring that the children are provided with quality care, education, and a nurturing environment.
The celebration of Hon. Debrah’s milestone birthday through charity highlights a growing culture among public officials to align personal milestones with meaningful social contributions. Observers say such acts not only bring relief to beneficiaries but also reinforce the importance of leadership grounded in empathy and service.
As he marks six decades of life and public service, Hon. Julius Debrah’s gesture stands as a reminder that leadership is most impactful when it extends beyond governance into tangible acts of compassion that uplift the most vulnerable in society.
