The Chief of Staff, Hon. Dr. Julius Debrah, has received special recognition from the Board and Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) for his valued contribution to the successful launch of the company’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The recognition, which took the form of a commemorative citation, was presented to Dr. Debrah on October 28, 2026, as part of activities marking the company’s two decades of operations in Ghana’s aviation industry.
The presentation was in appreciation of the Chief of Staff’s support and involvement in the commencement of the anniversary celebrations, which mark a significant milestone in the history and development of the country’s airport management sector.
The framed citation, presented on behalf of the Board and Management of GACL, symbolises the company’s gratitude for Dr. Debrah’s contribution towards making the launch of the anniversary celebrations a success.
The gesture also highlights the importance of collaboration between government and key state institutions in advancing national development, particularly in strategic sectors such as aviation, tourism, trade and investment.
Ghana Airports Company Limited, which is responsible for managing and operating the country’s major airports, is celebrating its 20th anniversary under the theme: “A Legacy of Resilience; Developing Further, Serving Better.”
The theme reflects the company’s journey over the past two decades, characterised by efforts to strengthen airport infrastructure, improve operational efficiency and enhance service delivery to passengers and other users of the country’s aviation facilities.
Since its establishment, GACL has played a significant role in the development of Ghana’s aviation industry, overseeing airport operations and supporting the country’s efforts to strengthen its position as an important aviation gateway within the West African sub-region.
The company’s anniversary celebration provides an opportunity for stakeholders to assess its achievements, acknowledge the contributions of individuals and institutions that have supported its growth, and chart a new course for the future.
The occasion also comes at a time when Ghana is intensifying efforts to leverage aviation as a major catalyst for economic transformation.
The aviation industry remains a critical component of national development, facilitating international connectivity, tourism, trade, investment and the movement of people and goods.
Improved airport infrastructure and efficient aviation services are considered essential to attracting international businesses, strengthening tourism and positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for regional and international travel.
Against this backdrop, GACL’s 20-year milestone presents an opportunity for renewed commitment to modernisation, operational excellence and the delivery of world-class airport services.
The recognition of Dr. Debrah further underscores the importance of institutional partnerships and leadership support in achieving the country’s broader development objectives.
For the Chief of Staff, the commemorative citation represents another distinguished recognition of his involvement in national development initiatives and engagements with public institutions.

The anniversary celebrations are expected to reinforce GACL’s commitment to building on its achievements over the past 20 years while pursuing its vision of developing further and serving passengers and stakeholders better.

As the company enters another chapter in its history, its focus remains on strengthening its operational capacity, improving passenger experience and contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s economic growth through a more competitive aviation sector.
