The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy O. Okrah, has declared July as the “Month of Dedication,” urging staff of the Authority and stakeholders across Ghana’s tree crops industry to renew their commitment to excellence, accountability and service as the country seeks to strengthen the sector’s contribution to economic growth.
He said dedication remained a fundamental requirement for achieving the Authority’s mandate of developing competitive and sustainable value chains in the country’s priority tree crops, including cashew, shea, coconut, oil palm and rubber.
According to Dr. Okrah, the second half of the year presents an opportunity for renewed focus and determination to accelerate programmes aimed at increasing productivity, promoting value addition and expanding Ghana’s non-traditional exports.
Sharing the message on his official communication platforms, the TCDA Chief Executive described dedication as “the act of committing oneself to a particular purpose, goal or person,” stressing that genuine dedication is built on commitment, loyalty and recognition.
Dr. Okrah explained that commitment goes beyond merely performing assigned responsibilities, saying it requires investing time, energy and expertise to achieve measurable outcomes.
He encouraged employees of the Authority to remain focused on delivering quality services to farmers, investors, processors and exporters while supporting government efforts to modernise the tree crops sector.
He noted that greater commitment would enhance productivity, improve competitiveness and create more opportunities for employment, particularly among young people engaged in agriculture and agribusiness.
“The success of our sector depends on the willingness of every member of the Authority and every stakeholder to give their best towards achieving our collective objectives,” he stated.
Touching on loyalty, Dr. Okrah described it as faithful devotion to a cause, principle or institution.
He urged staff and industry players to remain loyal to the Authority’s vision and to the broader national agenda of diversifying the economy through increased production and export of high-value tree crops.
He said sustained loyalty would strengthen collaboration among government agencies, farmers, private sector investors, researchers and development partners, leading to more resilient and competitive value chains.
According to him, collective commitment to the Authority’s mission would position Ghana as a preferred destination for investment in tree crops while improving the incomes and livelihoods of farming communities.
Dr. Okrah also highlighted recognition as an essential pillar of dedication, saying acknowledging the contributions of individuals and institutions inspires greater commitment and innovation.
He commended farmers, extension officers, processors, exporters, researchers and development partners for their continued efforts in supporting the growth of Ghana’s tree crops industry despite prevailing challenges.
He said recognising excellence motivates workers to maintain high standards and encourages stronger partnerships that ultimately benefit the entire agricultural sector.
The declaration of July as the “Month of Dedication” comes at a time when the TCDA is intensifying initiatives to promote sustainable production, improve value addition and increase export earnings from regulated tree crops.
Industry observers believe the campaign is expected to reinforce a culture of responsibility, ownership and high performance within the Authority while encouraging stakeholders to work together to unlock the sector’s full economic potential.
Dr. Okrah reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to build a vibrant and globally competitive tree crops industry capable of creating jobs, increasing foreign exchange earnings and contributing significantly to Ghana’s long-term economic transformation.
