Ayisah Foster, Managing Editor of The Punch Newspaper, has sounded the alarm on the economic pressure mounting on NDC grassroots supporters due to President John Mahama’s delay in nominating Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

This delay has sparked widespread discontent among NDC youth, who are crying out for jobs barely four months into the Mahama administration.

According to Foster, the delay in appointing MMDCEs is having a ripple effect on the economy, exacerbating the already dire economic situation faced by NDC grassroots supporters.

The lack of jobs and economic opportunities has created a sense of desperation among the youth, who are growing increasingly impatient with the government’s slow pace in delivering on its campaign promises.

The NDC youth’s cries for jobs are a stark reminder of the high expectations that came with the party’s return to power. During the NDC’s youth manifesto launch, President Mahama assured the youth that his government would create sustainable jobs to give them a dignified living. However, the delay in nominating MMDCEs is hindering the implementation of the party’s development agenda, including job creation initiatives.

Foster’s warning highlights the urgent need for President Mahama to expedite the nomination process and alleviate the economic pressure on NDC grassroots supporters. The clock is ticking, and the NDC youth are waiting with bated breath for the government to deliver on its promises. Will President Mahama heed the call and nominate the MMDCEs sooner rather than later? Only time will tell.
