MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunications company in the country, donated a big ram, food items, and assorted drinks worth GH¢10,000, as well as electronic cash of GH¢10,000 to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Zakaria, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The donation was made despite a heavy rain and was intended to support the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr.

Mr. Simon Amoh, Senior Manager of MTN General Trade, Northern Sector, presented the donation on behalf of the company at the premises of Kumasi Central Mosque. The donation was received by Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, Executive Secretary at the office of the Regional Chief Imam.

Mr. Amoh commended Sheikh Zakaria and the entire Muslim community for their fasting and prayers for Ghanaians. He explained that MTN Ghana’s annual donation aims to renew the relationship between the company and the Muslim community. Mr. Amoh pledged the company’s commitment to supporting the Muslim community at all times, adding that similar donations were being made in other parts of the country.

MTN Ghana was excited to support Muslims after their several days of fasting and prayers. Mr. Amoh also expressed condolences to the Muslim community for the demise of Sheikh Abdul Moomen Haroun, the former Regional Chief Imam. He wished the current Chief Imam and his deputies well in all their endeavors.

“MTN is very grateful for your loyalty over the years and will continue to work with you and support all your activities,” Mr. Amoh said.

Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, praised MTN Ghana for its annual donation to support the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. He stated that they always remember MTN Ghana and the entire nation in their prayers. According to him, the company has been a very good friend to the Chief Imam and the entire Muslim community.

Ustaz Seidu prayed for MTN Ghana to continue being the leading telecommunications company in the country, providing good services to citizens. He advised Muslims, especially the youth, to comport themselves during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

This donation is not the first time MTN Ghana has shown its support for the Muslim community. In 2021, the company presented food items to the National Chief Imam, Regional Chief Imams, and 6,000 Muslim families across the country in support of Eid ul-Fitr celebrations ¹.
