The leadership of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, has paid a strategic courtesy visit to Blue Skies Ghana Limited as part of efforts to deepen collaboration and strengthen Ghana’s mango value chain.

The high-level engagement, which brought together key officials from both institutions, sought to provide the Authority with firsthand insight into the operational capacity of Blue Skies, one of the country’s leading fruit processing companies. The visit formed part of TCDA’s broader mandate to regulate, develop and promote the sustainable growth of the tree crops sector in Ghana.
During the meeting, discussions centered on understanding the company’s production processes, supply chain structure, export activities, and the challenges confronting players within the mango industry. Particular attention was given to identifying areas where regulatory guidance, policy support and technical collaboration from TCDA could further enhance productivity, compliance and competitiveness on the global market.
Management of Blue Skies Ghana Limited warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the Authority’s proactive engagement with industry stakeholders. Company officials shared candid perspectives on the realities of operating within Ghana’s agro-processing landscape, including issues related to raw material supply consistency, quality standards, certification requirements, logistics and market access.
The delegation was subsequently taken on a comprehensive tour of the company’s modern processing facilities. The tour offered TCDA officials a firsthand look at the various stages of production—from fruit reception and quality inspection to washing, cutting, packaging and cold-chain handling. The visit provided practical insights into the company’s adherence to international food safety standards and its commitment to delivering premium-quality products to both local and international markets.
Dr. Osei Okrah reiterated TCDA’s commitment to fostering a supportive regulatory environment that enables value chain actors to thrive. He emphasized that effective regulation must go hand in hand with industry engagement, stressing that direct interaction with processors and exporters helps the Authority design responsive policies grounded in operational realities.
He further noted that strengthening partnerships between regulators and private sector operators is critical to unlocking the full potential of Ghana’s tree crops sector. According to him, the mango value chain holds significant promise for job creation, foreign exchange earnings and rural development, particularly when processing and value addition are prioritized.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts across the supply chain—from farmers and aggregators to processors and exporters—to ensure quality, traceability and sustainability. TCDA’s visit underscores its resolve to provide the necessary regulatory framework and technical support to improve standards, enhance productivity and boost investor confidence in the sector.
Industry observers view the visit as a positive step toward deepening collaboration between public institutions and private enterprises. As Ghana continues to position itself as a competitive player in the global fruit processing industry, sustained dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders remain essential.
The courtesy call to Blue Skies Ghana Limited is one of several stakeholder engagements being undertaken by TCDA as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the tree crops industry. By building strong partnerships and addressing operational challenges collaboratively, the Authority aims to accelerate growth across the value chain and ensure that Ghana’s tree crops sector remains vibrant, resilient and globally competitive.
