E/R: Tour Guides Association inducts regional executives

In a quest to create opportunities at the regional levels for the highest decision, Tour Guides Association of Ghana (TORGAG), has inducted regional executives in office to steer the affairs of the association in the Eastern region.

TORGAG is the most prestigious professional tourism body that is widely recognized and represented across the length and breadth of Ghana.

Mr Ashford Samuel Banibensu, the President for TORGAG said that the association is mainly focused to promote and support the scientific study and practice of tour guiding; creating platforms for public education, and be the lead advocate on tour guiding in Ghana.

He called on the new executives in the region to uphold the high tenets of the association.

Mr Banibensu urged them to submit their individual qualities to team work adding that togetherness will help achieve the vision of the association in the region.

“Nothing could be achieved without working as a team. The path to glory is rugged, but with our collective efforts, we will certainly persevere,’’ said Mr Banibensu.

Eastern Regional Deputy of Hospitality at Ghana Tourism Authority, Madam Bertha Appiah on her part commended TORGAG for contributing to increase the knowledge and visitor satisfaction which potentially influence the overall visitors’ experience.

‘‘We encourage you to broaden their knowledge base in tourism, master your acts and be abreast with the current trends in technological advancement to help you deliver your best,’’ Madam Bertha Appiah said.

To the new executives in the region, Madam Bertha Appiah advised them to increase their knowledge base on the tourism products in Ghana by reading wide, researching and doing extensive consultations with local and traditional authorities

She implored the regional executives to work diligently with professionalism, abiding by the general code of ethics by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Madam Bertha Appiah took the opportunity to call on members of the association who are not yet registered and licensed by GTA to take the necessary steps to regularize their operations with the authority.

Below are the names of the newly elected executives of the Eastern Regional Chapter for Tour Guides Association of Ghana.

Fuseini Mohammed Nawaru- Chairman

Kenneth Asare – Vice Chairman

Regina Aku Dzameshie – Financial Secretary

Gideon OSEI-Acheampong- Secretary

Okley Kofi Solomon – Communications Officer
