ECG Announces Emergency Maintenance Exercise Across Parts of Ashanti Region

Residents in several communities within the Ashanti Region are set to experience a temporary power outage as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) undertakes a scheduled emergency maintenance exercise aimed at improving service delivery.
According to an official notice issued on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the planned maintenance will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The exercise forms part of ECG’s ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply across the region.
The power interruption is expected to affect sections of several communities, including parts of Asabi Town, Boubai Muntaka, Boubai Town, Adukrom, portions of Sawaaba, Aprade, Mesuam, Ekyeem, Nsanie, and Oduom, as well as surrounding areas. Residents and businesses within these locations are advised to take the necessary precautions to minimize disruptions during the outage period.
ECG emphasized that the maintenance work is essential to address technical challenges within the power distribution network and to prevent unplanned outages in the future. The company noted that such proactive interventions are critical to sustaining stable electricity supply and supporting economic activities within the region.
While acknowledging the inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause, ECG assured the public of its commitment to completing the exercise within the stipulated timeframe. Power is expected to be restored promptly once the maintenance works are concluded.
The company further appealed to affected customers to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period and to cooperate with technical teams working to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
ECG reiterated its dedication to delivering improved services to consumers and expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of residents as it continues to upgrade infrastructure across the Ashanti Region.
