Tensions have escalated in the Ejisu Municipality following an alleged attack on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Jerryne Asante, by individuals believed to be constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 28, has drawn widespread public attention after a video of the confrontation surfaced on social media.

The footage, shared on social media platforms , captures a chaotic scene inside the MCE’s office, where heated exchanges took place between the alleged party executives and police officers present at the premises.

According to reports, the confrontation is linked to a purported warehouse break-in involving some party executives earlier in the day.

The situation reportedly escalated when the individuals stormed the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, allegedly demanding that the MCE vacate her office.

Eyewitness accounts and audio from the viral video suggest that the group issued direct threats, with one voice heard saying, “We didn’t come here to joke; pack your things.” The footage also reveals damage to property within the office, including a shattered glass table believed to belong to the MCE.

In response, Madam Asante is heard in the video strongly condemning the actions of the alleged perpetrators, expressing disappointment in their conduct and distancing their actions from the values of the NDC. She further vowed to pursue justice and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

“The NDC has become cheap… you will suffer for it,” she declared in the video, underscoring her determination to see the matter addressed through appropriate legal channels.

The presence of security personnel during the altercation highlights the seriousness of the situation, although it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made or injuries sustained.

As of press time, there has been no official statement from the leadership of the National Democratic Congress regarding the incident. Authorities are expected to launch a full investigation into both the alleged warehouse break-in and the subsequent confrontation at the Municipal Assembly.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about internal party disputes and political tensions at the local government level, particularly in the Ashanti Region, where political rivalry remains intense.

Further developments are expected as investigations unfold.
