Christians have been urged to continually lead the way as stewards of God’s creations by making conscious efforts to promote environmental sustainability.
They must guard against wanton depletion of the forest and environmental degradation as well as the the galamsey menace which has become an albatross on the nation.
The call was made by Rev Mawunyo -Nyonyo Christopher the acting Synod Moderator of the Ashanti Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian(EP) church ,Ghana at the 14th synod of the Presbytery in Kumasi.
The church is leading the way by educating it’s congregants from the Sunday school level to the top most on the need to protect the environment and the benefits that comes with it to current and future generations so as to help return the nation to it’s good old days.
Rev Mawunyo Nyonyo also called on the government to create the enabling environment for the teaming youth to have alternative means of livelihood or the fight against environmental degradation particularly illegal mining and pollution of water bodies would come to naught.
The 14th synod of the EP Church brought together delegates from various branches of the church within the Ashanti Presbytery to delebrate on the past, present and way forward of the church prior to its General Assmbly which is scheduled to take place later this year.
However, the Electoral commission was admonished to be seen to neutral in the up coming December 7 general elections and let fairness and and utmost transparency come to play if the nation is to continue to enjoy the peace and stability we have at the moment.
