Free SHS for Only the Best: Hon Kofi Adade’s Plan to Reduce Government Costs

Hon Kofi Adade, a former assembly member for Kumawu-Dadease and CEO of Kofi Adade Foundation, is advocating for a policy change to offer free senior high school education to students who achieve outstanding grades in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Specifically, he suggests that students who obtain BECE results from 6 ones to 10 ones should enjoy free SHS .

According to Hon Kofi Adade, this approach would help the government reduce costs, as only top-performing students would benefit from free education. This targeted approach could potentially alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with the free senior high school program, which has faced debates on financial resources and fears of collapse.

Hon Kofi Adade’s proposal aims to promote academic excellence and incentivize students to strive for better grades. By offering free education to high-achieving students, the government can encourage students to work harder and aim for excellence.
