The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi West and Dein of MMDCE’S Oti, Hon. Prosper Kwaku Addo, spearheaded a clean-up exercise to beautify the area and improve public health. The initiative aimed to enhance the appearance of Kete Krachi, the municipal capital, and its surroundings.
During the event, Hon. Prosper emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Speaking to XYZ News and Ibrahim Nsor, he appealed to the residents of Krachi West to uphold high standards of cleanliness, especially because of rising typhoid fever cases. He hopes this will not only improve the local environment but also attract visitors and foster a positive image of the region. He urged residents to clean their homes and surroundings.
Hon. Prosper also addressed the issue of improper waste disposal, urging residents to refrain from littering and dumping waste in inappropriate locations. He highlighted the adverse health consequences of such practices, including the spread of diseases like typhoid, malaria, and cholera, which have been linked to waste contamination of the Oti River and local gutters.
The MCE underscored the commitment of the current administration, under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, to prioritize cleanliness across Ghana. As part of this effort, Hon. Prosper announced plans for monthly clean-up exercises within the municipality. These regular initiatives are designed to improve public health outcomes and eliminate the diseases.
