GAAM President Marks Birthday , Urges Key Stakeholders to Ensure Peaceful Elections

The National President of GAAM, Hon, Ackah Nelson Frank is celebrating a significant milestone today. He has called on key stakeholders to ensure peaceful elections in the upcoming December 7 polls. As Ghana prepares for its presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7, Hon. Frank emphasized the need for collective responsibility.

Key stakeholders, including the media, security agencies, political parties, and assembly members, must work together. The media should provide balanced reporting, refraining from announcing election results ahead of the official declaration. Security agencies must maintain law and order through enhanced security measures and neutrality.

Hon. Frank stated, “As today marks my birthday and I represent all assembly members, I wish for peaceful elections, encouraging individuals and organizations to commit to peace before, during, and after the elections. This aims to foster a culture of peace, advocate for peaceful elections, and promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.”

He said we have only one Ghana, and perhaps the need for all to foster unity before, during and after the polls.

On the other hand, while extending the scope, he called on political parties to fulfill their promises made for the assembly members, including payment of monthly allowances and others since they play significant roles in the local governance and however called for relief for assembly members, adding that, the government must expedite the payment of ex gratia of the outgoing assembly members, stating the payment has become long overdue given.

He emphasized the importance of the EC’s resolute, neutrality, and transparency to conduct a peaceful elections to prevent any disputes in the upcoming elections.

The GAAM President’s call to action highlights the importance of collective responsibility in promoting peace during elections. By working together, key stakeholders can create an environment conducive to peaceful elections, allowing citizens to exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.
