Ghana NGO Coalition On The Rights Of The Child Gets New Executives

As part of the governance process of GNCRC, it is required that every three (3) years, GNCRC embark on an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to either confirm or elect new executives for the Coalition. The General Assembly of GNCRC is the highest decision body of the Coalition as stated in Section 4 and sub-section 4.1 of our 2008 GNCRC Constitution.
This is further confirmed in Article 6 of the GNCRC Constitution that empowers the Executive Council i.e. Presidents of the 10 administrative regions to take a decision through collectively signed agreement and send to appropriate agency or institutions as an agreement. Based on this standing order of the Coalition, an Annual General Meeting was held on 27th August 2020 at the Osu Presby, Conference Hall 1 to elect its leaders.
At the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM), members elected and confirmed the following persons and positions;
1. Philip Bosomtwi Amoah  National President.
2. Christopher Kwaku Dapaah  National Vice President
3. Joyce Larnyon- National Treasurer
4. Barima Akwasi Amankwaah- National Coordinator.
Speaking after the AGM, the President Elect Mr. Philip Bosomtwi Amoah assured members of the Coalition and key partners that the Coalition will continue to support the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Africa Charter on the Rights and Welfare of Children and other legislation within the country Ghana so as to bring improvement to the development of children.
He further called for continued partnership with key allies since the Coalition plays a very critical role in the development of children within the country. He concluded that the Coalition’s sustainability is all child rights organisations and development partners responsibilities because when the Coalition is playing its active roles very well then children’s rights and welfare are also upheld in the high esteem.
Adding to the Mr Philip Bosomtwi Amoah’s statement the National Coordinator, Barima Akwasi Amankwaah reiterated that currently there are about two reports one to the CRC Expert Committee and another to the AECRWC that needs to commence and hoping that there will be support to complete these on behalf of Civil Society Organizations.
The Coalition is of the hope that this time around a lot of children will participate in these sessions to make it also child friendly.
