Ghana’s Most Beautiful contestant, Ms Amoani to be made STEM ambassador-Dr Adutwum

The Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has hinted at plans to make a contestant of the just ended Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) a reality show on TV3, Miss Sara Odei-Amoanin, as the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) ambassador for the country.


He explained that the contestant who represented the Eastern Region successfully promoted STEM education during the show by educating viewers on the importance of STEM education necessitating her appointment as a STEM ambassador in the country.
Dr Adutwum announced this when Ms Sara Odei-Amoani paid a courtesy call on him in Accra last Friday.
The visit was to introduce herself to the Education Minister and interact with him on how she could assist in the promotion of STEM education in the country and was dully assigned that task.
Resourcing
The Education Minister indicated that he would, first of all, find sponsors for her so that she could be provided with the right resources to travel across the country to meet many young people, especially girls to educate them about the need to embrace STEM education.
Dr Adutwum announced some of the measures that have been put in place by the government to ensure that many people embrace STEM education, citing the expansion of some existing schools and the construction of new STEM institutions across the country to increase access to STEM education.
He described the huge investments being made by the government in the STEM sector as a proof of the interest of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the sector which could turn around the fortunes of the country within the shortest possible time.
Collaboration
The Education Minister appealed to all stakeholders in the country’s education to contribute their quota towards the transformation of the nation’s economy through education.
Miss Sara Odei-Amoanin, expressed her gratitude to the Minister for the responsibility reposed in her and pledged to work very hard to ensure that many more Ghanaians would hear and embrace STEM education which held the key to the nation’s transformation.
She added her voice to all Ghanaians to embrace STEM education as a tool for national transformation so that the nation’s economy can match up with the rest of the world.
Background
Ghana’s Most Beautiful is a reality show organized annually by the Media General group, operators of TV3 and other media houses.
The event selects contestants from various regions in the country to undertake projects of their choice which they seek to use to promote development to the people or reduce poverty in their communities and the country as a whole.
The contestant used various weeks of the show to undertake various STEM initiatives to educate viewers about what STEM stood for and it benefits to the country and the rest of the world.
