A youth group in the KUMASI Metropolis by name Asante Youth Movement (AYM) is calling on the President of the Republic to name a replacement to Oheneba Owusu Danso, the former CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) who has ended his term.

The group through its spokespersons Mohammed Alhassan and Kwabena Ansah in an interview said the delay in appointing a replacement at KATH was creating unnecessary tension and heat.

Some of the staff, the group spokesperson noted, were now hiding behind some persons to pitch their favorites for the position.

The group believes that if the President had nominated someone as new Chief Executive for KATH no staff or worker could have the chance to bandy names or favorites about.

FALSE CLAIMS:

The group spokespersons described as false the impression that some staff of KATH are throwing that they only want someone from within their midst as CEO.

Professor Ohene Adjei and Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare, Dr Kofi Akpaloo, the group said were not staff of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but were made CEOs at the facility.

The group also disclosed that the current Director of Nursing, Director of Finance and Director of Administration were not staff of KATH but were allowed to work without any protest from anyone.

The group said competence and capabilities are the needed qualifications for one to be nominated or appointed as CEO at KATH.

‘’Examples abound that persons who have been made CEO were not staff or workers at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and we insist the Presidents sticks to competence as the measure for the appointment of CEO for the premier hospital in the Ashanti Region’’, the spokespersons stated.

INFORMATION:

The group disclosed that they have information that a replacement has been chosen by the President but waiting to hear the final announcement.

They argue it is the Board Chairman and the Health Minister that were delaying the formal announcement.

The two, the group noted, are buying time to get their protégé to be nominated in the stead of the President’s choice.

‘’We want to serve notice that we know that the appointment of Professor Dr Dr Otchere Addai Mensah is in sight because that’s the President’s choice and his nomination letter dated on the 8th of November can be traced by us’’, the Group spokespersons revealed.
