Goldbod Technical Committee Engages Eastern Region Stakeholders on Ghana Gold Board Establishment

The Goldbod Technical Committee, led by Ag. Managing Director of the Precious Mineral Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi Esq., held a productive engagement with small-scale miners and gold leaders in the Eastern Region. The meeting, which took place at Akyem Tafo in the Abuakwa North Constituency, aimed to educate stakeholders on the policy rationale, objectives, functions, and regulations of the soon-to-be-established Goldbod.

The committee sought inputs from participants on the Bill for the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board, which will oversee the gold industry.

Stakeholders expressed gratitude for the broad consultative approach adopted by the Technical Committee and pledged their support for the Goldbod initiative.

This engagement is part of a broader national effort to establish a robust legal framework for the gold industry.

The Goldbod Technical Committee has been engaging with various stakeholders, including the National Association of Small Scale Miners, Concerned Small Scale Miners Association, and Chamber of Mines, to ensure that the Ghana Gold Board is fit-for-purpose .

The establishment of the Goldbod is expected to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainability in the gold industry. It will also provide opportunities for small-scale miners to access global markets and improve their livelihoods.

As Ghana moves forward with the establishment of the Goldbod, it is essential to continue engaging with stakeholders to ensure that their concerns and ideas are incorporated into the decision-making process.
