The Kumasi Campus of the Ghana Technology University College was fumigated this morning by Zoomlion Ghana Ltd. as part of the the Fumigation Exercise being undertaken nation wide in Schools in Ghana as a measure to fight the spread of COVID 19.
The exercise which is going on at the behest of GES was extended to GTUC in its preparedness awaiting for re-opening after the closure of all educational institutions because of the pandemic.
The Team from the Vector Unit of Zoomlion Gh Ltd fumigated lecture halls, offices of Staff and Lecturers, Student Cafeteria, Hostel and other facilities on campus. In his appreciation remarks on behalf of the University College and Management of the Campus, Mr George Akom, Assistant Registrar indicated that it was a good exercise undertaken by the Government, Ghana Education Service and in a joint effort with Zoomlion to provide a safe and conducive environment for students.
He added that it would build the trust and confidence of students for good learning environment devoid of fear and misconception when they resume to campus for academic work.
He interared that this exercise despite the existence of COVID 19 would also help to avoid the outbreak of other communicable diseases associated with students habitation by rodents and other pests on campus.
He thanked the stakeholders for the exercise and opined that such exercise should be regularised and should not be a nine day wonder to prevent diseases in our schools before we fight against such outbreaks which could take the lifes of students.
