A massive refuse heap that had accumulated at Bɔɔla Kɛseɛm in Mankranso Zongo has been successfully evacuated and transported to the final disposal site following an intervention by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District, Hon. Abubakar Sedik.

The refuse, which had grown into a huge mountainous heap, had become a major environmental and public health concern for residents in the area. Its removal forms part of the DCE’s commitment to improving sanitation, protecting public health and creating a cleaner and safer environment for residents across the District.

The evacuation exercise has significantly improved the condition of the area, relieving residents of the unpleasant sight, offensive odour and potential health risks associated with prolonged accumulation of solid waste.

Speaking on the intervention, Hon. Abubakar Sedik reiterated that the health and well-being of the people remain a major priority of his administration. He stressed that development cannot be meaningful if residents continue to live in unhealthy and unsanitary environments.

Hon Sedik’s intervention also demonstrates his administration’s determination to tackle sanitation challenges through practical and timely action rather than allowing environmental problems to worsen.

Residents of Mankranso Zongo have welcomed the evacuation, expressing appreciation for the swift response to a concern that had affected the community for some time.

The exercise is expected to contribute to improved sanitation and environmental cleanliness within the community while reducing the risk of diseases associated with improper waste disposal.

Hon. Abubakar Sedik has therefore urged residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining the newly cleaned environment by properly disposing of waste and avoiding the creation of refuse heaps at unauthorised locations.

“The health of our people is paramount to me. A clean environment is essential to a healthy community, and we will continue to take practical steps to protect the people and improve their living conditions,” he said.

The evacuation of the Bɔɔla Kɛseɛm refuse heap is yet another indication of Hon Abubakar Sedik’s focus on sanitation, public health and the overall well-being of the people of the Ahafo Ano South West District.
