lawyer Bernard  Bediako Baidoo, the Member of Parliament for Akwetia Constituency, representing the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized that his reason for being in parliament is not to amass wealth, but to serve the needs of his constituents.

In a recent interview on the Bryt Adekyee Musem morning show with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt FM, Lawyer Bernard Baidoo explained that the Akwetia constituency officials are well aware of the funds allocated by ministries for local projects. He further revealed that his earnings as a lawyer were significantly higher than what he receives as an MP, adding that the demands of his constituents far exceed the financial benefits of being in parliament.

Baidoo attributed the public perception that MPs are earning vast sums of money to the behavior of some parliamentarians. He noted that such actions have led to widespread suspicion among Ghanaians about the financial rewards of serving in parliament.

He urged his fellow lawmakers to serve with sincerity and to be truthful with their constituents, particularly as the country approaches a new political season. He also advised against making unrealistic promises, reminding MPs of the importance of delivering tangible results for the people they represent.
