The incumbent Ashanti Regional Women Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Huzie(Iron Lady ),has officially filed her nomination to seek re-election for a second term, expressing her commitment to strengthening the party’s women’s wing and consolidating the gains made during her tenure.
Madam Gloria Huzie’s nomination forms were submitted by the Asokwa Constituency Women Organiser, Madam Regina Awuni, at the NDC Ashanti Regional Party Office in Kumasi, as the party continues to receive nominations ahead of its regional executive elections.
Her decision to contest for another term is expected to place her leadership record, commitment to women’s empowerment and contribution to the party’s organisational strength in the spotlight as delegates prepare to elect regional executives.
Speaking after the filing of her nomination, Madam Huzie expressed gratitude to branch and constituency women organisers for their support and encouragement throughout her tenure.
She indicated that her decision to seek another term was motivated by the desire to continue the work she had started and build on the progress made in strengthening the NDC women’s wing in the Ashanti Region.
According to her, sustaining the party’s organisational structures and empowering women to play meaningful roles in its activities remain important priorities that require commitment, cooperation and effective leadership.
She stressed the need for continued efforts to create opportunities for women within the party, particularly at the grassroots level, where much of the political mobilisation and engagement with voters take place.
Madam Huzie maintained that an effective women’s wing was essential to the NDC’s political fortunes in the Ashanti Region, adding that women must remain actively involved in the party’s decision-making processes and campaign activities.
The incumbent regional women organiser appealed to delegates to retain her in office, arguing that a second term would enable her to continue the initiatives and programmes she had begun.
She expressed confidence that continuity in leadership would provide an opportunity to consolidate the party’s structures, strengthen relationships among women organisers and improve coordination between the regional, constituency and branch levels.
Her appeal comes at a time when the NDC is preparing its regional leadership structures as part of efforts to position the party for future political contests.
The Ashanti Region remains an important political battleground, making the mobilisation of party supporters, effective grassroots organisation and the active participation of women crucial to the NDC’s electoral ambitions.
Madam Huzie believes that strengthening the women’s wing and maintaining an organised party structure would help improve the NDC’s engagement with voters across the region.
Beyond her immediate ambition of securing another term, Madam Huzie has identified victory in the 2028 general elections as a major objective of her re-election bid.
She called on delegates to support her continued leadership, emphasising the need for unity, effective mobilisation and a well-organised women’s wing capable of contributing meaningfully to the party’s electoral campaign.
Her re-election campaign is therefore centred on continuity, women’s empowerment and strengthening the NDC’s organisational capacity ahead of the next general elections.
Political observers consider the role of regional women organisers important to party mobilisation, particularly in coordinating constituency and branch-level activities, encouraging participation among women and supporting broader campaign strategies.
For Madam Huzie, securing another term would provide an opportunity to continue working with women organisers throughout the Ashanti Region to advance the party’s objectives.
As the nomination process progresses, attention is expected to shift towards the candidates’ respective programmes, leadership records and strategies for strengthening the party ahead of the regional executive elections.
Madam Huzie’s decision to seek re-election signals her determination to remain at the helm of the NDC’s women’s wing in the Ashanti Region and continue contributing to the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.
