Some aggrieved members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sekyere Kumawu District in Ashanti region are calling for the removal of their District Chief Executive (DCE), Samuel Addai Agyekum, for “woefully failed” as a government representative but the editor in -chief of broadcastergh.com and Ashanti regional editor of the punch newspaper,Mr.Ayisah Foster has made it clear that it will be sickening to sack him at this crucial time.
The group alleged that he has woefully failed in the performance of his function as the chief representative of the President but Mr.Ayisah Foster, confidently said that Hon.Samuel Addai Agyekum is one of the best DCEs to have worked tremendously under Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo’s administration.
This is a fact and has won the overall best DCE award for the year 2020 in Nana Addo’s administration by Pan African Heroes foundation.
Based on his dedication, hardwork and selflessness ,he has been Inducted into World Diplomatic Federation as development initiative council member .
Hon.SamuelAddai Agyekum, a native of Kumawu Woraso,Schooled at Woraso Presbyterian Basic School and had his Secondary Education at Kumasi High School has fetched alot of physical developmental projects to the Sekyere Kumawu District which is a fact and no one can take it from him.
Mr Samuel Addai Agyekum, was honoured for his outstanding contribution towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)in the district.
The award, which was presented by the International Award Agency (IAA) was in recognition of Mr Agyekums’ contributions toward the improvement of the socio-economic lives of the people in the district.
The award was given upon a nationwide assessment of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs),and Sekyere-Kumawu district achieved high marks of 90 per cent of commitment towards achieving the SDGs, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation, health, education and the environment.
Key rural socio-economic development projects in various sectors such as health, agriculture, education, market development, tourism, among others, were areas of focus for the award.
Graduated from University of Ghana, Legon , had his Second Degree in Public Administration at KNUST it would be prudent for President Nana Addo to give him another four years in office to use his lobby skills, knowledge and experience to develop Kumawuman and it serving areas.
Mr.Samuel Addai Agyekum based on his hard work has served two terms as an Assembly Member at Woraso Electoral Area and Presiding Member at Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly where he’s now the DCE.
At a press conference held at Bodomase last Tuesday, the convenor of the group, George Ofosuthe group alleged that Mr Addai Agyekum, instead of working harmoniously with the NPP Parliamentary Candidate to improve upon the 78.2% height attained in the 2016 parliamentary elections, he, by his actions and inactions caused the NPP party to nearly lose the seat to an Independent Candidate.This statement is bogus and must be quashed.
I’m stating on record that,had it not been Mr Samuel Addai Agyekum,NPP would have lost the parliamentary seat woefully.
Mr.Agyekum managed to resolved the feud between the said MP and Nananom in the area which helped the NPP win that seat in the 2020 general elections.
How could a sitting MP be in a bone of contention with traditional leaders who are the custodian of the land and think of winning the heart of his people.
But as selfless as he is, Mr Samuel Addai Agyekum boldly persuaded the chiefs and ensure that the party won the 2020 elections.
