Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has announced the end of her professional and business relationship with Ghanaian music duo Keche, bringing to a close a seven-year partnership that began in April 2019.
According to a statement issued by GEM Multimedia Ghana Limited, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe has decided not to renew her professional contract with Keche Global, comprising Keche Andrew and Keche Joshua.
The statement said the decision takes effect from Monday, August 31, 2026, after more than seven years of investment and involvement in the management, production, marketing, promotion and professional development of the music duo.
It stressed that the decision was made peacefully and respectfully, adding that there was no fight, hatred or bitterness between the parties.
“THE CONTRACT WILL NOT BE RENEWED. THE PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP HAS ENDED,” the statement said.
Beginning of partnership.
The partnership between Hon. Gyan Cudjoe and Keche began in April 2019 through Golden Empire Legacy Limited.
The arrangement, according to the statement, was publicly valued at approximately GH¢2.5 million, equivalent to about US$500,000 at the time.
The investment was aimed at strengthening the careers of the two musicians and expanding the Keche brand locally and internationally.
GEM Multimedia said the investment continued throughout the seven-year professional relationship, with Hon. Gyan Cudjoe estimating that more than US$500,000 was ultimately committed to the development, production, marketing, promotion and general support of Keche.
Areas of investment
The statement outlined several areas in which resources were committed during the partnership.
They included music recording and studio production, music videos, production crews, marketing and advertising, radio and television promotion, digital and social media promotion, public relations, branding and rebranding.
Other areas included photography, artist development, executive production, management, collaborations, performances, travel and international activities, accommodation and logistics, wardrobe and image development, industry networking and promotional campaigns.
The statement said financial and logistical support was provided whenever the duo had a song to record, a video to produce, promotional activities to undertake, travel arrangements to make or collaborations to support.
It described the investment as a commitment to the artists, their music, the Keche brand and the long-term vision for their careers.
Vehicles and relocation
As part of the support provided to the musicians, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe said she provided two brand-new personal vehicles, one each for Keche Andrew and Keche Joshua.
She also supported the relocation of the musicians from Spintex to East Legon.
The relocation, according to the statement, was intended to bring them closer to their office and other professional activities, including studio sessions, meetings, rehearsals, media engagements and business appointments.
The statement further noted that Hon. Gyan Cudjoe travelled with the team, supported projects, promoted their music, assisted with branding and marketing and used her business relationships to help create opportunities for the duo.
Music projects
The seven-year partnership also saw the release of a number of songs and collaborations involving Keche.
Among the songs listed by GEM Multimedia were Odo, Today, Same Girl featuring Akwaboah, No Dulling featuring Kuami Eugene, Good Mood featuring Fameye, Faya featuring Epixode, Life, Something Must Happen, Party of the Year featuring Mr. Drew, Kiss, Papapa featuring Lasmid, Maame and Enjoy Life.
The company expressed appreciation to the various artists, producers, songwriters, musicians, directors, sound engineers, managers, promoters, disc jockeys, radio and television presenters, journalists and other creative professionals who contributed to the duo’s journey during the period.
It also disclosed that some songs and collaborations produced during the partnership had not yet been released.
According to the statement, such works could still be released, with issues relating to ownership, rights, approvals and royalties to be handled in accordance with the relevant agreements and applicable law.
No acrimony
The statement sought to dispel any suggestion that the decision to end the relationship was the result of conflict between the parties.
It said the decision was a final business arrangement made peacefully and respectfully.
It added that Keche Global was free to choose its own management, investors, record labels, producers, promoters, business partners and future professional direction.
Similarly, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe was said to be free to pursue new investments, businesses, partnerships and opportunities within the entertainment industry and beyond.
The statement described the situation as the closing of one professional chapter and the beginning of another.
Focus on new talent
With the end of the partnership, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe is expected to redirect her entertainment-related investments and experience towards discovering and developing new talents.
Through GEM Multimedia Ghana Limited, she intends to focus on new music, emerging artistes, new business ventures, investments and partnerships.
The company said its broader vision was to discover, identify, develop, produce and promote African talents while creating opportunities and jobs within the creative industry.
The vision, it said, was to build stars and create lasting legacies, with Ghanaian talent positioned for the African and global markets.
Best wishes
Despite the end of the business relationship, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe wished Keche Global well in its future endeavours.
She encouraged fans of the duo to continue supporting their music by streaming their songs, watching their videos, attending their performances and supporting their future projects.
The statement said the future professional journey of Keche Global belonged to the duo, just as Hon. Gyan Cudjoe would pursue her own professional and investment interests independently.
After seven years of collaboration, the parties are therefore set to pursue separate professional paths, with the former partnership now formally concluded.
