The Tatale-Sanguli District has taken a significant leap toward economic transformation and improved public safety with the sod-cutting ceremony for a 24-hour economy market and a modern fire service station.

The landmark event, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon Mary Tagba , brought together government officials, traditional leaders, security agencies, and residents in a show of unity and renewed hope for development.

Addressing a distinguished gathering that included the Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John Mburidiba the Member of Parliament Hon Ntibi Ayo Williams , traditional authorities, clergy, and other stakeholders, the DCE described the occasion as a “historic turning point” for the district. She expressed gratitude to God and lauded the government for what She called a “bold and life-changing initiative” aimed at revitalizing local economies and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

The DCE underscored that the 24-hour economy market forms part of a broader national agenda to reposition Ghana’s economy amid global uncertainties. According to her, the initiative will reduce the growing trend of youth migration in search of greener pastures abroad by creating viable economic opportunities at home.

“Rather than watching our brothers and sisters risk their lives abroad in search of non-existent jobs, this intervention is resetting the economy to empower our people locally,” he stated.

She extended profound appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing the Tatale-Sanguli District in national development planning. The DCE noted that the inclusion of a Women’s Bank within the market complex is a particularly transformative feature, given the district’s limited access to formal financial institutions.

“This initiative will not only boost women’s economic activities but also safeguard their earnings from theft and insecurity, which has been a recurring challenge in our communities,” he emphasized.

Beyond government interventions, the DCE highlighted local efforts to complement development through strategic partnerships and lobbying. He revealed that the district has recently secured a new vehicle to enhance police operations, significantly improving security response capabilities.

She further announced plans to construct a District Police Headquarters, disclosing that a philanthropist and the Church of Pentecost have jointly contributed GH¢110,000 to kickstart the project. He appealed to other stakeholders to support the initiative and contribute to the district’s development agenda.

Turning attention to the fire service station project, the DCE described it as a proactive response to the devastating effects of fire outbreaks, citing recent incidents in nearby communities. The facility, to be located in the Kuyoli area, is expected to provide timely emergency response services and training in basic firefighting skills for residents, particularly farmers.

“Many lives and properties have been lost due to preventable fires. This project will equip our people with the knowledge and tools to respond effectively,” he said.

The DCE also used the platform to address pressing social issues, especially youth involvement in drug abuse and other vices. He called on chiefs, opinion leaders, and parents to take an active role in guiding the younger generation.

“Our youth are the future leaders of this country. We cannot afford to leave them to destructive influences,” he cautioned.

On matters of security and peace, he commended residents for their cooperation in maintaining stability despite ongoing chieftaincy and land disputes. He assured the public that the District Security Committee remains vigilant and committed to addressing any threats to peace.

“Peace is the foundation of development. We must all work together to preserve it,” he urged.

The DCE concluded by calling on the community to take ownership of the projects and protect them from vandalism, illegal activities, and misuse. He emphasized that the success of the initiatives depends on collective responsibility.

“These projects are for us. Let us safeguard them to ensure they serve their intended purpose for generations to come,” he said.
The ceremony marks the beginning of what many residents hope will be a new era of economic growth, improved security, and social transformation for the Tatale-Sanguli District.
