Joy News Journalist Fiifi Koomson has admonished Journalists to tell compelling stories to attract large audience for their media houses.

Fiifi emphasized that telling compelling content leads to large audience and attract advertisers which in a long run generate revenue and to a large extent, a broader resources to run the media house.

Fiifi Koomson was addressing the Bright Media Series hosted by MTN Ghana on the topic “Keeping It Real – From Data To Real Social Impact Stories held via Zoom.

The Bright Conversations series host and celebrate distinguished personalities whose ideas, thoughts and services have helped influence our society positively.

He reminded Journalists of their first loyalty to citizens saying their obligation to the truth must never be ignored.

‘Journalism must strive to keep the significant interesting and relevant,’ he stressed.

The immediate past chairperson of the National Media Commission, Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng asked Journalists to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession and urged others to fall in line with good practices of the craft.

“Journalism should first serve the public interest before any other interest,” he added.

He said what was lacking currently in the journalism space was intellectuals; academics, columnists and sources that journalists could fall on anytime to seek their opinion on issues of national interest.

Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng said in order for a Journalist to bring elements of story telling under one roof, advance planning must be a key factor.

‘Local is important, local is reality. To make stories compelling, don’t forget the mood and ambience. Keep stories well structured, ” he advised.
