The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has met with executives of towing service providers operating within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) jurisdiction to address growing public concerns about their operations.
The meeting aimed to improve city management and ensure that towing services operate with professionalism and respect towards the public.
The Mayor expressed concern over increasing complaints about harassment and poor conduct by some towing personnel.
He emphasized that such behavior tarnishes the image of the Assembly, despite the services being outsourced.
Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi charged the operators to improve their human relations, avoid unnecessary harassment, and enforce laws fairly and respectfully.
The Mayor issued several directives to the towing service providers, including:
– Focusing on removing broken-down vehicles and those wrongly parked or causing obstruction
– Addressing long vehicles offloading goods within restricted hours (9 AM – 5 PM)
– Expanding their operations beyond the Central Business District (CBD) to other parts of the city
The Mayor emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of KMA and strictly adhering to the terms of their contracts. “The city is undergoing a critical phase of development, and we must not worsen the experiences of road users and businesses,” he stressed.
The meeting marks a new era for towing services in Kumasi, with a focus on professionalism, respect, and fairness. The Mayor’s directives are expected to improve the overall experience of road users and businesses in the city, and promote a positive image of KMA.
