Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Announces Metro-Wide Clean-Up Exercise On Saturday

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a metro-wide clean-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, 10th January 2026, targeting the entire Kumasi Metropolis, with particular focus on the Central Business District (CBD).

The announcement, made through a press release dated 9th January 2026, calls on residents, businesses, and stakeholders within the CBD to participate in the all-inclusive clean-up initiative.

According to the KMA, the clean-up exercise is part of the government’s sanitation efforts and is expected to run from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon. In line with the directive, all trading and commercial activities within the Metropolis will remain closed until 12:00 noon to facilitate full participation in the exercise.

The KMA has emphasized that no commercial vehicles will be allowed to operate in designated areas during the stipulated period. The affected operational areas include:
– Gutfuho Round-About to MTN Round-About
– Zoo Round-About, Roman Hill Down to Aboano Station.
– Crossroads through Alabar to Apagyae Crossroads.
– Apagyae Crossroads through Dr. Mensah to Otumfuo Round About
– MTN Round-About and the entire CBD

In the press release, the KMA urged all traders, corporate entities, commercial vehicle drivers, and residents to comply with the directive and actively participate in the clean-up exercise. The Assembly expressed anticipation that the collaboration will enhance sanitation and overall cleanliness within the Metropolis.

The Public Relations Unit of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly issued the statement to all media houses, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in making the clean-up exercise a success. The initiative aligns with broader governmental efforts to improve sanitation and environmental management in urban centers.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s metro-wide clean-up exercise is expected to promote a cleaner environment and raise awareness about sanitation and civic responsibility among residents and businesses in Kumasi.
