Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Leader Outlines Vision for City’s Development

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has delivered a sessional address outlining his vision for the city’s development.

The address was delivered at the 1st ordinary meeting of the 2nd session of the 9th Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

The MCE’s address covered several key areas, including governance and security, human resource management, corporate image and public relations, legal issues, finance and revenue, environmental sanitation and waste management, transportation, development planning, projects and programs, markets redevelopment, spatial planning and development control, disaster management, social welfare and community development, agriculture, education, youth and sports, and health services.

The MCE emphasized the importance of good governance and security in the city’s development. He highlighted the Assembly’s efforts to improve traffic management and enforcement, including the impounding of vehicles and fines for offenders. He also mentioned the Assembly’s plans to engage stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the city’s sanitation challenges.

The MCE acknowledged the city’s environmental sanitation and waste management challenges. He outlined the Assembly’s efforts to improve waste collection and disposal, including the engagement of private actors and the provision of subsidies for low-income households to construct household toilets.

The MCE highlighted the city’s transportation challenges, including traffic congestion and illegal loading and offloading of vehicles. He outlined the Assembly’s efforts to improve transportation, including the promotion of mass public transport and the reduction of travel times.

The MCE discussed the Assembly’s financial performance, including the growth of internally generated funds.
