The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has clapped back at critics of the novel Free SHS policy saying they must be laughed at.
He defended that this vision of President Akufo-Addo has given the opportunity to a chunk of students who but for the sake of money would have become drop outs are enjoying the free policy.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh who doubles as the Energy Minister stated that the Free SHS has undoubtedly brought so much relief to parents whose financial muscles are weak.
The MP who was speaking on Friday, 19/04/2024 at Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School at Dichemso in his constituency at a brief donation ceremony asked the students to learn hard to be better persons after school.
The donation was to aide research and practical works of the school’s Science Laboratory and the were 100 stools, 25 tables and 2 shelves.
They were all given to equip the school’s Biology, Physics and Chemistry laboratories. The MP had previous occasions supported the school with donations of computers, desks and other logistics.
“Before I served as the Minister of Education, one of my biggest plans was to extend the school beyond its present boundaries plus the construction of an astro turf. They are going to happen”, he emphasized.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh pledged to facelift Serwaa Nyarko SHS to a model girl school and also make it one of the best schools in the country.
The popular MP promised the students a befitting dining hall and a multi-purpose hall.
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Esther Gyasi Sarpong was grateful to the MP for the gesture and like Oliver Twist she appealed for more of such donations.
Stephanie Gyasi Ameyaw, the School’s Prefect on behalf of her colleagues expressed joy at the donation and asked for God’s blessings for the MP.
