Let’s give equal opportunity to PLDs in society – Ambassador

Ambassador Edward Boateng, Ghana’s Ambassador to the republic of the people of China has advocated for the People Living with Disabilities (PLDs) to be given equal opportunities in the society in the job market.
According to him, given them opportunities with Tax exemptions and making the requisite resources available  to them by giving them training will go a long way to get them out of the road side begging and work to always employ others.
The Ambassador make the passionate appealed at a thanks giving and end of the year gathering organized by Grateful Hearts Disabilities Association, NPP Persons Living with Disability wing in Kumasi.
His. Excellency Edward Boateng the Patron of the Association expressed the need to prioritize the interest of the PLDs as a society to enhance equity in our society backed by the laws we have in place for a long time which are not implemented as expected, and for that matter, urged the media to also contribute in advocating for those find themselves in the disadvantage side of those dormant laws.
Mr. Akwesi Kyei, Ashanti Regional Communication Director and Member of the the Association, entreated parents with children with disabilities to ensure early detection to help them gives the child the appropriate assistance in order not to become a burden to the family and the society as a whole.
He was of the view that, not all the People Living with Disabilities can go to school, so the need for those who can not have formal education to venture into entrepreneurship in securing a better living condition for themselves instead of being on the streets begging.
He disclosed that, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has good intentions for the Association and the vulnerable or the less privileged in the society and for that matter, the need to remain united and rethink of making the disability fund from the government more useful to benefit or improve their standards of living to have all inclusive society irrespective one’s physical condition.
The Association took the occasion to honor the Ambassador with a Citation in recognition of his outstanding contributions and selfless support to the development of  Persons Living with Disability, and to also motivate him to keep making positive impact on the society and the Association in making it more formidable.
