Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Mary Awusi, has called for unity in the party to clinch power in 2024.

Speaking at the inauguration and orientation for Zongo Caucus Coordinators in the Ashanti region, she urged the party members to iron out their differences and forge together.

Dr Awusi also entreated both winners and losers in the party primaries to reconcile for the interest of the party and work toward victory in the 2024 general elections.

“The call for unity is in the interest of everybody no matter your stature in the party; it is in our interest to put the difference behind us and work together.

“It will be of no benefit to you if you decide not to campaign for the party to win power because you’ve lost an election or your candidate lost an election.

“As former President Kufour said, ‘It is better to be a gateman in power than being a chairman of a political party in opposition,” Dr Awusi said.

She, therefore, called for a united front to wrestle power from the poorly performed governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
