A group emanating from the Ashanti region by name Loyal Youth of Ashanti has called on members of the National Executive Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party to as a matter of urgency call Dr.Mahamudu Bawumiah,vice president of the republic to order.
In a press statement issued ,the group however told the Vice President to humbly call off his premature ambition to lead the NPP as its flagbearer in the 2024 presidential elections.
According to the group,Dr. Bawumia’s decision is against the party’s lay down rules and regulation hence he should desist from his early campaign activities and support President Akufo ADDO to fulfill his promises.
Spokesperson of the group Nana Kwame Wusu told the press that, Vice President Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia has on several occasions flouted the orders of the party and has went ahead to spread his campaign posters across the country.
He however expressed that,despite the General Secretary of the party, Mr. John Boadu and other party stalwarts advise to the Vice President, he still bent on fueling his followers to violating the party’s rules.
He alleged that a meeting was held at 11:30 to 12pm On the 2nd of April 2021 at the Ashanti Regoinal Coordinating Council of which the Vice President sent a delegation from Accra led by Hon Charles Kissi who happens to be the DCE for Adansi North District (Fomena) to meet some MMDCEs in the Ashanti Region.
On the said meeting, the delegation from the Vice President’s camp, tasked all MMDCEs to support the Presidential ambition of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to protect their office(s) as MMDCEs or risk losing their jobs if they fail to support the agenda.
The Vice President again through the V20 group Coordinator for Offinso North, one Asantewaa is organizing a program on the 24th of April 2021 to help market the Vice President in the two Offinso Constituencies.
“The Vice President has on countless occasions flouted the directives of the Party.
The Loyal Youth of Ashanti went further averred that there are procedures where candidates who want to lead the party have to follow but Dr. Bawumia has portrayed a gross disrespect to the party’s leadership and it constitution.
The attempt by Dr.Bawumia to impose MMDCEs on the party and various districts and municipalities won’t only incur the wrath of the people but will also be a disastrous scheme for the party since about 70% of the MMDCEs are not the choice of the people.”He maintained.
The group stated emphatically that it’s obvious the vice President is trying all means to succeed the current president of the republic, Nana Akufo Addo whiles he is alive.
“Dr. Bawumia should think about the peace and unity of the NPP beyond his personal political interest”. They lamented.
We, therefore, call on Dr. Bawumia to focus on the job given him and call his supporters to order.
